Aker Solutions to Acquire Kvaerner, Separate Wind and Carbon Capture Businesses

Aker Solutions and Kvaerner have agreed to combine with the company also spinning off its wind development investments and appointing a new CEO from Aker BP. Kjetel Digre will join Aker Solutions on August 1st as CEO. Digre is currently the SVP of Operations and Asset Development at Aker BP. Aker Solutions will absorb Kvaerner in accordance with the Norwegian law and retain the name Aker Solutions. The combined company will do fabrication at owned facilities in cooperation with other partners.

Aker Offshore Wind will carry out a private placement to include all wind development projects followed by a listing on the Olso Merkur market. Aker Carbon Capture will also complete a private placement guaranteed by Aker with a listing on the Merkur market.

A new organization will be established with Ivar Eikrem taking the role of CFO. The new company will have about 15,000 employees at 50 locations in 25 countries. Astrid Skarheim Onsum will be appointed CEO of Aker Offshore Wind.

The combined company will be a dedicated execution partner for delivery of complete projects for new energy production facilities, for example oil and gas production platforms or subsea systems, or offshore wind power installations.
