Background

OAO Trubnaya Metallurgicheskaya Kompaniya (TMK) manufactures tubular products. Operations are organized into four geographic business units: Russia, America, Europe, and the Middle East. Common shares are listed on the Moscow (TRMK) exchange. Trubnaya Metallurgicheskaya Kompaniya translates to Pipe Metallurgical Company in English.

Prairie Pipe Manufacturing was established in 1956 in Saskatchewan and renamed Interprovincial Steel & Pipe Corporation in 1960. IT Slatina was founded in 1982. Interprovincial Steel & Pipe was shortened to IPSCO in 1984. IT Slatina was renamed Artrom in 1995.

TMK was established in 2001 and had an initial public offering in 2006. Artrom was acquired by TMK in 2006. In 2007, the company acquired Truboplast, NGS-Nizhnevartovsk, NGS-Buzuluk, and Rosniti. TMK acquired IPSCO from SSAB in 2008 as well as Kaztrubprom. TMK acquired a controlling share in the Oman pipe plant in 2012.
