Sempra Energy operates power plants, natural gas distribution lines, and electricity distribution lines with assets in the United States and Mexico. Operations are organized into three business units: California, Texas, and Infrastructure. Subsidiaries includes San Diego Gas & Electric (SDG&E), Southern California Gas (SoCalGas), IEnova, Oncor Electric, and Sharyland Utilities. The company is publicly held with shares listed on the NYSE (SRE) exchange.

Pacific Enterprises and Enova merged in 1998 to form Sempra Energy. Sempra acquired a majority stake in Oncor in 2018. The company combined Mexico-based IEnova and Sempra LNG to form Sempra Infrastructure Partners with a public listing planned for the first quarter of 2021.
