Petrofac Ltd. provides contract engineering, procurement, and construction services. Operations are organized into three business units: Engineering & Construction (E&C) for turnkey contracts, Engineering & Production Services (EPS) for reimbursable contracts, and Integrated Energy Services (IES) for performance-based contracts. Common shares are listed on the London (PFC) exchange. Petrofac traces its name back to its founding in 1981.
Petrofac was established in Tyler, Texas as a modular plant producer with a staff of 25. Petrofac International was formed in 1991 with an operational center in Sharjah, United Arab Emirates. The Working, England office was established in 2001, and Aberdeen-based PGS Production was acquired in 2002. RGIT Montrose and Rubicon Response were acquired in 2004 and 2005. The group acquired a controlling stake in SPD Group in 2007. In 2008, Eclipse Petroleum Technology and Caltec were acquired. Scotvalve Services and Stephen Gillespie Consultants were acquired in 2010, and subsea pipeline consultant KW was acquired in 2012.
CEO Ayman Asfari announced his retirement in October 2020, to be replaced by former BG Group COO Sami Iskander.
