Background

Oil States International Inc. (OSI) manufactures offshore platform connectors, riser equipment, mooring systems, subsea pipeline products, and cranes. Operations are organized into three business units: Well Site Services, Offshore/Manufactured Products, and Downhole Technologies (GEODynamics). Ordinary shares are listed on the NYSE (OIS) exchange.

Oil States was founded as an oilfield supply store in Tulsa, Oklahoma in 1937. The company developed the first flexible load bearings for bridges in the 1950s which became the basis for future riser joint technologies. SCF Partners first invested in 1995, and Oil States completed an initial public offering in 2001. The company acquired Acute Technological Services in 2010. In 2012, the company acquired Pipe Valve Systems. Quality Connector Systems (QCS) was acquired in 2013, and Montgomery Machinery Company (MMC) was acquired in 2015. The company acquired GEODynamics in 2018 which became the Downhole Technologies business unit.
