Background

Nine Energy Service Inc. manufactures completion tools and provides intervention, wireline, cementing, and coiled tubing services with assets in the United States and Canada. Operations are divided between the Completion Solutions and Production Solutions business units. Common shares are listed on the NYSE (NINE) exchange. The name nine derives from the nine companies merged to form the company.

SCF Partners combined three of their portfolio companies in 2013, and a total of nine companies merged to form Nine in 2014. These companies were Northern States Completions (NSC), CDK Perforating, Integrated Production Services Canada (IPS), Peak Pressure Control, Dak-Tana Wireline, Crest Pumping Technologies, G8 Oiltool, Beckman Production Services, and Frac Technology. Rock Hill Capital invested in Big Lake Services in 2012. The company completed an initial public offering in 2018 and acquired Magnum Oil Tools later that year.
