Advanced Energy Systems (ADES) was established in 2002. The company acquired three jackup rigs from Hercules in 2016, another three jackup rigs from Nabors in 2018, and 23 land rigs from Weatherford in 2019. In March 2021, PIF made an offer to acquire ADES and relocate its headquarters from Dubai to Riyadh.
